Needs Assessment/Practice Gap Analysis

The foundation of all NCME activities is a comprehensive needs assessment and gap analysis. In fact, NCME has received “exemplary compliance” from the ACCME in the past for the way we have conducted needs assessments. NCME uses multiple sources for establishing need, including:

• Review of the literature
• Medical advisory board assessments, comments, surveys, and recommendations
• AAFP profiles and surveys
• Lay press reports
• Surveys of NCME hospital subscribers
• Surveys of specialty audiences
• Participant data including personal practice profiles and comments
• Government disease state databases
